Where God Calls You to Love, He Calls You to Lead
Sam DeSocio | 5/11/26 | Acts 20:13-38
In Acts 20, the Apostle Paul gathers the elders of the church in Ephesus for what he knows will be his final goodbye. There is no list of accomplishments, no recounting of miracles, no boasting. Just an emotional reflection on how he lived with them and loved them.
Pastor Sam walks through this passage and asks what it means that Paul's farewell focuses entirely on love. The answer reframes how most of us think about leadership. It is not a title or position reserved for a few. It is something every follower of Jesus is already invited into. Where God calls you to love, He calls you to lead.
The sermon explores three patterns from Paul's life. Love encourages people who feel alone in what they are carrying. Love endures through hostility and disappointment, both from outside and from inside. And love equips others to grow stronger than we are. Whether you have been part of the church for decades or are just starting to wonder what Christianity is actually about, this message offers a different vision for how ordinary people quietly change the lives around them.
